Starting Dec. 16, 2011, I issued a challenge to myself to take and post a photo a day. Beyond that, there are no rules. It can be something I shot for my work at the paper or a client, or it may be a personal photo. But for 366 days - 2012 is a leap year, y'all - I will pick up a camera and take a shot and share it.

April 12, 2012 - This was an initial effort in a project I am working on for my friend, Mary Lois. She is a retired registered nurse who makes blankets for children in the hospital in her Ohio hometown. In her description of The Blanket Train, Mary Lois writes, "A heart is placed on each blanket so that each child and family member knows that someone cares." I am going to be endeavoring to take photos of each blanket for Mary Lois before they are sent off to be wrapped around children that need them. (119/366)

  • April 8, 2012 - One thing I was conscious of doing yesterday shooting Easter services for Maxwell Street Presbyterian Church was not just getting people on the platform but also shooting the congregation a little bit. This was a family that came out to the 8 a.m. sunrise service at the Lexington Cemetery. (115/366)

  • April 18, 2012 - I opened the Vignette app on my phone and discovered it had been updated with a whole bunch of new presets, including this, Diana-style. At first, I was worried my favorite photo app had been messed up. But then I found my favorite settings were still there with a relatively easy way to create custom presets. This could be fun.   • April 21, 2012 - Bryan Station Middle School had 13 students in Fayette County Honors Orchestra, including first chair cello and bass and second chair viola. REPRESENT! Running a little behind, I forgot to grab my camera bag on the way out the door - another reason I am glad my phone can get a good shot. (128/366)

  • April 28, 2012 - Saturday night I had the privilege of shooting a reunion of law clerks for retired Federal Judge Pierce Lively. The more I heard Judge Lively's former clerks talk about him and their time working with him, the more privileged I felt to be there documenting the occasion.
