366

Starting Dec. 16, 2011, I issued a challenge to myself to take and post a photo a day. Beyond that, there are no rules. It can be something I shot for my work at the paper or a client, or it may be a personal photo. But for 366 days - 2012 is a leap year, y'all - I will pick up a camera and take a shot and share it.

  • March 4, 2012 - There were other images from today's visit to church by the UK Cheerleaders and Scratch for our annual chili lunch to watch the last UK game of the year. But I just loved this one of Woody, including the "meeting of religions" subtext. (80/366)
  • March 7, 2012 - There is a moon. It's called The Moon. (83/366)
  • March 8, 2012 - No. 1 daughter had an orchestra concert tonight. Since it was a prep concert for the Kentucky Music Educators Association competition, the atmosphere was pretty serious, so I mostly confined my shooting mostly to the sound and light booth. Despite the flat angle, I was looking for some conductor-musician interaction and concentration. (84/366)
  • March 13, 2012 - The thing I like about taking pictures of my son during a concert is he can't tell me to stop. (89/366)
  • March 14, 2012 - Springing! (90/366)
  • March 16, 2012 - This is a parting shot. No. 1 son's violin has seen him through tremendous growth into a pretty serious player. Today he got word that it is time to move on up - Can you play "Movin' On Up" on violin? - to a full size model. So this instrument will go on to be played by another aspiring musician, but I doubt it will be loved as much as it has been the past few years. BTW, milestone here: With this shot, I am a quarter of the way through the 366 Project. (92/366)
  • March 17, 2012 - Grill master. (93/366)
  • March 18, 2012 - 3:30 p.m., Masterson Station Park, Lexington, Ky. (94/366).
  • March 19, 2012 - Yes, I am a bit obsessed with the beautiful Bradford Pear Tree. No, I cannot promise this will be my last picture of one before all the blooms drop. (95/366)
  • March 20, 2012 - Gratz Park, sunset. (96/366)
  • March 22, 2012 - Late in the "winter" I started referring to this as my "Boyd Crowder sweater." Boyd is my favorite character on "Justified," and he often walks around in this buttoned-up, collared cardigan that gives a professorial air to the Harlan County crime boss that likes to quote literature to his enemies. (98/366)
  • March 23, 2012 - No. 1 daughter icing cupcakes for her "Schoolhouse Rock" cast mates. Why would she be taking cupcakes to rehearsal on March 24? Hmmmmm. (99/366)
  • March 24, 2012 - The three b's of a birthday: best friend, boyfriend and brother. Too cool that pic 100 coincided with No. 1 daughter's birthday - I didn't plan it that way. (100/366)
  • March 26, 2012 - Leaving work, I noticed how the trees surrounding the Herald-Leader lot sort of frame Second Presbyterian, across Main Street from us. When I came back a little later, the sun wasn't firing the young leaves the way it was earlier. This is a shot I will probably come back to sometime, as the whole project is teaching me to note shots I may want to come back to with more ideal light or other circumstances. It's also taught me how much I love buried power lines. (102/366)
  • March 27, 2012 - My Adidas - actually, my son's. (103/366)
  • March 29, 2012 - I was not planning to do two straight days of Uncle Herald products. These are craft paper toy figures of the University of Louisville Cardinal and University of Kentucky Wildcat designed by staff artist Chris Ware. He says these sorts of figures are very big in Japan these days. Anyway, we have downloadable versions of them at LexGo - <a href="http://bit.ly/H1ed9n">http://bit.ly/H1ed9n</a> - that you can print and make. When I saw them online, I thought they looked real cool, but we didn't have anything showing how the finished product should look. So, I grabbed Chris' models and took a quick shot using some window light. Now, tomorrow, I promise: real camera and no Herald-Leader products. But I really did think these were cool. (105/366)

  • March 31, 2012 - Grill Master No. 2. No. 1 son readies some food for UK-UofL. (106/366)
  • April 1, 2012 - Palm Sunday. (108/366)
  • April 2, 2012 - This seems like a good day to post a Cat. Give him a string or shiny light, and he can get kinda wild.
