366

Starting Dec. 16, 2011, I issued a challenge to myself to take and post a photo a day. Beyond that, there are no rules. It can be something I shot for my work at the paper or a client, or it may be a personal photo. But for 366 days - 2012 is a leap year, y'all - I will pick up a camera and take a shot and share it.

July 15, 2012 - Finally decided to try the Eye-Fi card, so this was shot with my D300s onto the card, which uploaded it to the iPad where I did some light editing with the PS app and here it is. This is, BTW, Marlayna Maynard and Clif Cason presenting "O Come, Let Us Sing Unto the Lord" by Sven Lekberg at MSPC Sunday morning. (213/366)

  • June 19, 2012 - I know these are weeds, but I love them. They always make me think about Horton Hears a Who. (187/366)
  • June 24, 2012 - These shoes, a Father's Day present, were new as of Wednesday. Then, I wore them through three days of the Ichthus Festival. (192/366)
  • June 25, 2012 - Alex Wimmer playing his usual 10 p.m. slot at open mike night at Common Grounds Coffee House. (193/366)
  • June 26, 2012 - Playing with the Vignette app, I wanted to see which setting I liked best for our (literally) Orange amplifier. The winner? Somewhat predictably Red Scale. (194/366)
  • June 27, 2012 - Our kids are sticklers for putting the correct number of candles on our birthday cakes. (195/366)
  • July 1, 2012 - Talking to Siri. A travel time killer that couldn't have happened last year. (199/366)
  • July 2, 2012 - Sometimes, composition just happens. This moment on our first morning in Chicago just caught my eye. (200/366)
  • July 3, 2012 - Colin, mowing the field next to the church where we stayed on the South Side of Chicago. I think I was annoying him with my efforts to compose this shot. (201/366)
  • July 4, 2012 - For Independence Day, a half-dozen of the the crew on our Chicago trip exercised their freedom to wear the goofiest socks they could come up with during our day in the city. (202/366)
  • July 5, 2012 - Totally shot through the window of a moving bus, I could not resist this classic urban scene on a 100-plus degree afternoon on the South Side of Chicago. (203/366)
  • July 6, 2012 - Props to Zach for tipping me to this gorgeous view of the Chicago skyline from the fifth level at U.S. Cellular Field, home of the White Sox. (204/366)
  • July 7, 2012 - Albert, Samurai tourist. (205/366)
  • July 13, 2012 - Happy Friday the 13th. (211/366)
  • July 14, 2012 - I did not necessarily intend to do two cat pix in a row, but this has been a weekend of messing around with some iPad photo stuff and related tools. This was my favorite shot and it was edited with the Photoshop app for iPad - the free version, not the super deluxe. (212/366)

  • July 25, 2012 - It was lots of fun photographing King's Ransom at Parlay Social Wednesday night. I'll have a post with more images in a few days. (223/366)
  • Aug. 6, 2012 - Dusk. (235/366)
  • Aug. 5, 2012 - Photographing Griffin's going away soiree, this was the sort of moment I was looking for. (234/366)
  • Aug. 11, 2012 - While staining our deck, I shot some pics of the stain can, the deck and the sky, trying to get some highly saturated color straight out of the camera. But I really ended up liking this shot of No. 1 son at work. Shooting through a screen gave the image a feel that struck me as hazy and summery, though it was actually a very cool August afternoon. (240/366)
  • Aug. 17, 2012 - Finish up a gallery I need to deliver or go take a new picture for today? Well, I did take one picture today - an iPad Twitpic of my regular Friday afternoon lunch: A Cheeseburger from The Paper Plate, our in-house cafeteria at Uncle Herald's. And Donna made potato wedges to go with them. So, in an album chronicling a year, this is an occasion worth documenting, no? (246/366)
